Can the Clutter

A little home organization can save you precious minutes, even days

You're running late. As you grab your keys and head for the door you distractedly reach for that letter you were planning to mail, but all your fingers find is a sticky little mess left by one of the kids. Panic sets in. You don't have time for this – where is it? Normally you haphazardly throw the mail on a countertop in the kitchen, although sometimes you take it into your home office, but other times you leave it on the living room table.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

A 2008 study released by the National Association of Professional Organizers found that 55 percent of respondents would save anywhere from 16 minutes to one hour per day if they were more organized.

Do the math and that equals from two to 15 days wasted each year! Try to take a little time to set up organizational structures in your home, whether its separate trays for documents on your desk or a coding system for that massive DVD collection. You'll get that time spent organizing – and then some – back in the form of stress-free hours and days over the long term.
