When it comes to livening up the living room, designer Kirsten Floyd of Kirsten Floyd Interiors in Hartford, Conn. suggests taking stock of what you've got.
"One thing I've found that really helps to freshen up a space is to rearrange furniture that you already have," she says. "Open your eyes to what you already have in front of you and see it in a different way." She also says changing up the walls can make a dramatic difference.
"One of the things that is probably the easiest and most inexpensive is paint."
Elizabeth Lonseth, of Seattle-based Elizabeth Lonseth Interiors, says you should ask yourself two key questions when it comes to color choice: "What colors do I want to buy and which do I really like?"
