Dimmer switches don't just set the mood. They can set off savings in your electric bill and look good at the same time

When it comes to saving energy, dimmer switches are a bright idea. LED-controlled dimmer switches are an even brighter idea than clunky, clicking beige knobs. Lutron Electronics, a lighting control manufacturer in Coopersburg, Pa., has created a dimmer switch with a thin strip of LEDs running down the middle. Touching anywhere on the strip changes the level of lighting in the room.
The dimmer, called Vierti, is available with blue, white or orange LEDs and a variety of different colors and materials for the plate. Turn the lights on halfway, save almost half the energy lights normally use. Make light bulbs last longer, or just be romantic.
